Here are two charming sterling silver scatter pins formed as ladies’ heads complete with bonnets and flowing hair. They are typical of the highly detailed cast work of Unger Bros., of Newark, NJ, during the Art Nouveau period. Both have secure C-clasps; one looks to have been replaced, perhaps during the 1920s. The fine features are intact and the maker’s mark well struck. Each pin measures 3/4 inch long by 5/8 inch wide.

This gemstone and gold necklace is textbook art nouveau. Leaves of gold swirl toward a central heart shaped vine. Swags of detailed chain support the central nature inspired element that brings faceted amethysts, baroque pearls and diamonds to rest on the neck. The lower pear shaped amethyst echoes the pear shapes of the two pearls above it. Two round diamonds echo the orb of amethyst in the center of the heart. The amethysts are rich in hue and natural in color. American jewelry is a find. Our ...click for details

Here is a pair of pretty little brooches, quite possibly by the same maker. One is of a pretty lady in profile, with her hair up in a bun, the other is of swirling leaves. Each is marked “sterling front,” and their construction is identical except one has a longer pin than the other (I believe most of brooches of this era had quite long pins, and that many of them have been shortened over the years). One measures 7/8” x ¾”, and the other, 7/8” x 5/8”. The leafy one may have had a repair to it’ ...click for details
